Kathmandu Art Gallery in Babarmahal has reopened with “The Master of Devotion” exhibition, running from October 17 to November 22. Set inside a historic Rana palace, the exhibition blends heritage and creativity, showcasing a collection of traditional Nepali religious artworks—mainly in the Newari style—by several renowned artists.

The featured paintings depict Hindu and Buddhist deities such as Laxmi, Ganesh, Krishna, Lokeshvara, Tara, Amitabh Buddha, Avalokiteshvara, Kurkula Devi, Bhimsen, Vajra Varahi, and Vishnu. Each artist brings a unique interpretation, characterized by intricate detailing, symbolic elements, and a deep sense of spirituality. The artworks range from serene and contemplative to fierce and dynamic, often enriched with rich palettes, mythological motifs, and masterful craftsmanship.

Overall, the exhibition highlights how contemporary Nepali artists honor ancient devotional traditions while infusing their work with fresh creativity, resulting in pieces that feel both timeless and modern.
